Art Fest is People

I don't go for the art. I don't even go for the food. Both are good, but I'm really there for the people. Over the years, the space behind Mom's booth has become the place to hang out.

I'd never really thought about it until this year when everyone's schedule inexplicably left me to wander the park on my own. It was still neat to see the new vendors and rediscover returning artists, but... it just wasn't the same.

The festival is fun, but it's really only been a backdrop for hanging out.

Hopefully, tomorrow will work out better for that.

  • hey kev, it's me, that 'northern' friend of yours... :D

I agree with how you have been noting that life isn't about going out every night, or having to see 'all of the sights' etc. I, too, have been realizing that as well. And because I'm lazy and didn't want to comment on all 6? of the blogs I read today, I'll just note that I know EXACTLY what you mean by that losing self and finding self idea... and letting go of the pat rack within. I'm working on that right now...
Marvin and Laura are AMAZING! (I love the talks I have with Laura when I get the chance)

About your other blog... not sure if this is ANYWHERE near where you were heading with it, but one of my journals at my blog talks about characteristics Godly women look for (or atleast some look for) in a husband... an encouraging side note to seeing that women should have standards and not back down from what they know is God given and truly right. (Good self esteem= good feelings about self= good image of self= beautiful internals leading to understanding of beautiful externals... if that makes sense)
    This is too long.
    Talk to you later!

  • Good to hear form you again, Evolved. Can I call you "Evolved"? I'm not sure what else to call you.. Sorry to say I missed out on some of your blog before it was deleated while I was doing some of my own evolving, though I'm glad to see you're still at it. Nice to make a fresh start sometimes, eh?

A pitty you didn't make it in time, Al. The festival shut down around 7 on Saturday. I'm guessing you were at the 7 o'clock Pirates, otherwise, I know someone would have recognized you. There was a group of us there at 1 and 3 (all different people, who failed to coordinate with eachother).

And Thank You to the lady of the North. Suggestions about the other blog are always appreciated. Sometimes I'm not sure myself what direction it's headed in. Though your words are worth considerable consideration.
I know what you mean about Marvin and Laura. Actually, hearing Laura talk about all the ways she's seen God work over the years is a big part of what's been prodding me to keep the other blog going.

  • I'm sorry to hear that you guys didn't all connect. Who all "came" (since you didn't get to actually see them)? How's your summer going?
